Getting here
The transition from the wide mountainous expanses and generous valleys of the eastern region into the narrow valleys with precipitous hillsides, deep fjords, effervescent waterfalls and narrow hairpin roads of the western region is a pronounced one.
What means of transportation being available will be dependent on the time of year of your visit, since many of the roads leading into the area closed for winter. Parts of Rv 63 between Åndalsnes and Valldal (The Troll Road) is winterclosed. This is also the case with the same road in the south between Grotli and Geiranger (The Geiranger Road). From the west, the ferry transport on the Geiranger fjord is cancelled in the winter period between October and April.
All-year open road from Åndalsnes and Ålesund (E136 and Rv 650).
From the center of Valldal you drive up the valley along the river about three km.The road forks at Uri Bru. Take to the right. Meretes Zen Garden is on your left side about 30 meters from the bridge.
From Åndalsnes you come via the Troll Road to Uri Bru. Go over the bridge and go left just after the bridge. Meretes Zen Garden is on your left by the river.
